nothing. she just like the surfer style like the ones that don't care and let their hair loose, about shoulder lenght is surfer style, or even longer, all i know that its not short. i would go with about 10 inches at least.

Lol really do not look to deep into that conversation,she really just meant what she said, if you like your the way it is,leave it,if you don't,cut it.Had she felt otherwise she would have said,"Oh,I love long hair " or "I love short hair" or "You should cut it" etc etc. Get the point? She was thinking ..."do whatever you want." You really looked way to deep into that.
