Okay, this is disturbingly bizarre. I found a gray hair on my head. The end is completely gray, but the section towards the root is black as can be! What could've caused this?
Background Info: 40/Female; 3 kids; (using my daughter's account on here in case any of you all know her) black hair cut medium length.
HELP
Gray hair at the ends and dark at the root?
I've had some hair turn gray from the bottom up, some turn gray from the root down, and some turn gray from both ends at once until it meets in the middle and the whole strand is gray. It sounds crazy but it's true. I don't think anyone can determine where the graying process is going to start or where it's going to happen. My daughter colored my hair last week and she told me all my gray was on top and in the front, but my roots in back were still my natural dark brown.

Just your hair losing the pigment. Nothing to worry about, you just caught sight of it before it finished turning completely grey!!! lol...
Gray hair at the ends and dark at the root?
All I can say is as I approach 40 my hair has gone completly wacky. I have all sorts of different hair, my regular blond, gray, white and some really weird aburn curly hair that makes me look really weird when its humid. I would say it is just part of getting older. Yea, NOT!
Gray hair at the ends and dark at the root?
Mine's doing the same and it's not one hair, it several. I'm guessing it's sputtering out the last of the color before going to all gray.
